Nigeria: Hajj Commission Announces Eight Different Fares for 2023 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced six different fares for the 2023 Hajj exercise. The varying Hajj fares were made known to the [public in a news conference granted by the National Chairman of the Hajj Commission, Alhaji Zikrullahi Hassan. The meeting was well attended by all the Chief Executives of the 36 States and FCT pilgrims boards, agencies and commissions.

According to Alhaji Hassan there are two different fares for the Northern pilgrims and six varying pilgrims for the Southern states. All the pilgrim fares include the 800 Dollars Basic Travelled Allowance (BTA).

Pilgrims that will be departing from Maiduguri and Yola, being the centre of the North East has a special scheme with the payment of N2,890,000.00 while the other seventeen (17) states in the North will cost N2,919,000.00.

In the Southern part of Nigeria, all the eleven states on the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones, including Edo State pilgrim Regime but excluding Cross-River, State have the same regime and their travel to Saudi Arabia for the 2023 Hajj will cost each pilgrim a total sum of N2,989,000. Pilgrims from the Cross River State will pay 2,943,000.00 for the 2023 Hajj service.

Southwest has three different pilgrim regimes which include a special regime for Ondo and Ekiti States; Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States has a different regime while Osun has a standalone Hajj regime in 2023.

Pilgrims from Ondo and Ekiti states will pay N2,880,000 while their counterparts from Osun State will pay N2,993,000.00 and pilgrims from Lagos, Oyo and Ogun States will pay the bulk sum of N2,999,000.00.

The Hajj commission, therefore, promised uprightness and quick attention to the issues related to the registration of the pilgrims with the Saudi Arabia's authority, issuance of the Yellow Card and development of zero tolerance for flight delay.

NAHCON insisted that any organisation that may be responsible for any flight delay will be dealt with, and this does not exclude any of the state, pilgrim or airline.
