The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has launched a monthly award to recognise “outstanding performances of Nigerian football players” worldwide, including the NPFL.
This also trended:
In a statement on Wednesday, the NFF revealed the awards will “honour the brilliance, dedication, and passion that Nigerian football players bring to the game, recognising the pinnacle players who have left their mark on the pitch.”
The award is divided into three categories: player of the month for both male and female footballers, goal of the month and discovery of the month.
NFF joined that the nomination process for the award will be done by “an independent organisation” which “will collect and analyse players’ statistics throughout the month, ensuring that the best performances are highlighted”.
The final voting process comprises 40 percent of votes from fans, and the remaining 60 percent of the decision rests with journalists and sports industry stakeholders.
Nominations for the inaugural edition of the awards will be declared on October 3 and close four days later.
