Hunters A middle-aged Anambra mother of four, Ugochukwu Chikelue, has disclosed how she survived what would have been her last moment on earth.
Mrs. Chikelue who was kidnapped last week Friday by unknown assailants, revealed that her kidnappers tied her legs and hands and took her to a river bank where she was prepared for her last moment on earth.
She narrated that the kidnappers asked her to make her last call which would determine if she would be set free or killed either by slaughtering or throwing her into the river alive with her hands and legs tied, already.
She expressed how she felt confused and shocked when, suddenly, her kidnappers took to their heels and abandoned her. A moment after which she saw men of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), who were said to have been deployed for a "search and rescue" operation following her disappearance from the town, Umueri community in Anambra East local government area.
She stated that some people from the community later informed her that the Deputy Commander General of the NHFSS (Special Service), Dr John Metchie, was the one who facilitated the sting operation that led to her rescue.
However, the media office of Dr. Metchie released a statement about the operation that led to the rescue of Mrs.Chikelue which reads:
“Immediately after I got the intelligence information, I had to activate all available security channels. We had to alert the police, the army, the DSS, and other relevant agencies and stakeholders.
“I also called Abuja to inform my boss, the Commander General of NHFSS, Amb. Joshua Osatimehin. Following his instructions, we had to quickly mobilize NHFSS operatives in the state to move to the area. The rest is history.
“It was a swift operation that paid off quickly, as the woman was rescued within record time and reconnected with her family,” Metchie said.
