Ondo State's embattled Deputy Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa has formally resumed as the "Acting Governor" of the state.
Acting Governor Ayedatiwa, who has been out of the state for days, making contacts with political stalwarts of his Party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja in connection with his struggle to be declared as the Acting Governor of the State following his boss, Rotimi Akeredolu's ill-health.
Before his unplanned return to Ondo State today, Ayedatiwa met with President Bola Tinubu on Monday where the President first gave him the limelight of becoming the state's Acting Governor [sooner]. However, Ayedatiwa's Acting Governorship position is tied with some clauses [buts].
Ondo State Acting Governor Ayedatiwa who was ferried back to the Akure Airport in a Charter Aircraft would run the Governorship office of Ondo State without the ability to reshuffle the State Executive Cabinet members and he cannot forsake any of the appointments made by the ailing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu into the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in the state.
A source informed the Round Table that Acting Governor Ayedatiwa risks an "Automatic Impeachment" if he attempts to violate any of the laid down clauses which our source revealed include other "buts" that remain between President Tinubu, Acting Governor Ayedatiwa, and some Leaders of the party both in Ondo State and National level.
Acting Governor Ayedatiwa's resumption of office follows a "Letter of Medical Leave" received by the Ondo State House of Assembly from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu which necessitated the transfer of power to the Office of the Deputy Governor Ayedatiwa as the state's Acting Governor pending the return of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
