JAMB Registrar Warns Southwest Women Against Disobeying Sultan of Sokoto's Authority
The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, has counseled adherents of Islamic faith in the South West against engaging in some activity that could undermine the authority of the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad, as leader of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).



Oloyede, who is furthermore the Secretary-General of the Council, gave this reproving at the special Ramadan Tafsir and Iftar in honour of the late parents of the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, held in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The JAMB Registrar stated that Muslims in the country are one and operate under the umbrella of NSCIA, headed by the Sultan of Sokoto.

Oloyede noted that subverting the leadership of the monarch by any section of Muslims in the South West would not augur well for solidity amidst adherents of the Islamic faith in the country.

He recalled that all Muslims in the country unanimously concurred on the choice of the Sultan of Sokoto as their leader, advising Muslims in the South Western region not to bring up dissenting issues that are capable of causing friction between them and their northern counterparts.

However, the NSCIA’s Secretary General charged Nigerian Muslims to incorporate based on Quranic injunctions and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

Oloyede applauded Salako for organizing the juncture and for his steadfastness and intellectual contribution to the NSCIA, describing him as a source of pride for his community and Islam.

The Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammed Ali Pate, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the occasion, implored Salako and his family to follow suit their parents’ good deeds.

The president furthermore prayed for divine enablement for the family to stay on the good path their late parents laid while alive.



In his lecture, the guest lecturer, Professor Saheed Olurotimi Timehin from Lagos State University (LASU), eulogised the Minister of State for Health for hosting the programme to honour his late parents, prominently in the Holy Month of Ramadan.

He equally summoned for solidity amongst Muslims and cautioned them to be good to everyone, outlandish of their religious beliefs, by the teachings of the Holy Prophet.
