Gov Fubara Reacts to Rivers Political Saga

The embattled Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has reacted to the political imbroglio rocking the state.

In the past few days, Nigerian political space has been filled with happenings from Rivers State where 26 lawmakers announced their defections from the ruling party in the state, People's Democratic Party (PDP), to the ruling party in the country, All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the crisis, Governor Fubara insisted that he was on top of the situation and was ready to serve the state diligently with determination to uphold the will of the people.

According to Governor Fubara's short message in a video published on his verified X account, the Governor said "I assure you, we will continue to protect the interest of our people".

The political crisis between Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike has led to the resignation of about nine Commissioners in the state.




Early today, some residents of the state who are of Ijaw extraction held a solidarity rally for the state governor amidst the political uncertainty facing his seat.
