The state High Court in Gboko has issued a restraining order preventing the PDP from proceeding with local government congresses until it determines why the ward congresses scheduled for July 27, 2024, did not take place.
The affected local government areas include Buruku, Gboko, Guma, Kwande, Ushongo, and Konshisha. The court did not issue an order to halt the state congress, as a motion on notice is set to be heard on August 16, 2024.
It is important to note that the PDP held ward congresses on July 27, 2024. However, electoral materials intended for the aforementioned local government areas were allegedly taken away by some party leaders, resulting in these areas not participating in the congress.
In pursuit of justice, the plaintiffs led by Senator Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev swiftly filed a complaint, leading to the court's decision on behalf of the affected party members.
