For the past decades, people of the Southeastern part of Nigeria have accused other regions of marginalizing the geopolitical zone. .any people have argued that the marginalization has been deliberate to punish the region for getting Nigeria to war between 1967 and 1970. However, in recent times, realities show that the claim of marginalization in Easter Nigeria seems to be more of a self-imposed punishment than the region attributing the calamity to the other stakeholders in the country called Nigeria.
Only in the East
Only in the Eastern part of Nigeria, you will see the elders supporting all forms of criminality that are being perpetrated by their sons and daughters, disintegrating the bond of national unity, all in the name of agitating for secession or registration of regional rejection to the government of the day at the central.
For instance, secondary school students across the 36 states of the federation are currently sitting for their High School Certificate Examination, taking Mathematics, one of the two compulsory subjects that every Nigerian student must pass before gaining admission to any university, unfortunately, not a single Student is allowed to sit for the exam, in the five eastern states.
This was tied to a new agitation for the declaration of May 30th as a Public holiday in COMMEMORATION OF BIAFRAN HEROES AND HEROINES MASSACRED DURING THE 3-YEAR BIAFRA-NIGERIA CIVIL WAR.
Hard to believe, if the Federal Government had deployed its military force to repel the application letter to regional retardation as wished by the easterners, they would still accuse the government of using the military to prosecute the ethnic cleansing agenda. Hence, the Federal Government needs to treat the region with the highest level of delicacy.
Tomorrow, someone will just wake up peacefully on the street of Lagos, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere in the other regions, and keep shouting that the Nigerian government has marginalized the easterners because a minority of them, residing in the Eastern region would be gaining admission into the universities to further their education.
Pathetically, they won't remember this moment when the region is deliberately marginalizing itself from other regions that make Nigeria.
What the majority of the reckless agitators do not know is that, even if one of the easterners becomes Nigerian President, there is still not going to be a secession.
