PDP The Kano State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has received a caretaker committee constituted for it by the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party.
The caretaker committee set up for the state was contained in a statement released on Wednesday, Match 6th, by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Oloogunagba.
Oloogunagba, in his statement, unveiled Alh. Mai Adamu Mustapha is the Caretaker Chairman of the party in Kano State while Barr. Baba Lawal Aliyu will serve as the Secretary of the party in the state.
Part of the statement read "The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has, on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), pursuant to provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended, 2017), approved the composition of Kano State Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the Kano State Chapter of the Party for a period not exceeding 90 days (3 months).
Members of the caretaker committee include Ibrahim A. Dan’Iya, Prof. Muntari Y. Banana, Hon. Aminu A. Jingau, Barr. Habibu Adamu, Auwalu Ibrahim Dan’Zubuwa, Abubakar Gwarmai, Kabiru Bello Dandago, Haj. Ladidi Dan’Galan, and Auwalu Mukhtar Maibiscuit.
"The PDP NWC urges all leaders, critical stakeholders, and teeming members of our Party in Kano State to remain united and continue to work together for the progress of the Party in the State," Oloogunagba stated.
Recall that the Kano State chapter of the PDP has been paralyzed since the former Governor of the State, Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso was denied a chance of deciding who became what at the ward and state congresses of the party ahead of the 2023 general election.
Kwakwanso was blocked by the influence of Atiku Abubakar who was aiming at winning the 2023 presidential ticket of the party, and Kano's delegate capacity was seen as a threat by Atiku Abubakar.
The same political power-play between Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso denied the Northwest region its party leadership hierarchy of the PDP.
