Tonye Cole Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole has revealed his ordeal in the hands of the perceived supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.
PDP members protesting at the Rivers State Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday descended on Tonye Cole and APC Rivers State Chairman, Emeka Beke molesting them when they arrived at the Office of INEC to collect the Certified True Copy of the March 18th governorship election in the state.
On the arrival of the APC governorship candidate, Tonye Cole; Rivers State APC Chairman, Emeka Beke and a few members of the party at INEC Office, protesting PDP allegedly used the opportunity to attack them, dragging, slapping, and stoning them. The miscreants also shot sporadically into the air to scare away APC supporters.
While talking to the Channels TV yesterday, Tonye Cole started that “They had barricaded the road from GRA junction. They began to assault me. First, they were throwing water, then they began to throw food. The next minute they started throwing stones.
“The next thing, we started hearing gunshots. It took my security people to forcefully evict me. They destroyed our vehicles, they injured me.
“They slapped me, they punched me, they dragged me, and then threw stones at me until I was injured in the back.”
