The Most Dangerous States to Live in Nigeria, 2023

Nigeria news
Bola Tinubu
Even though all the 36 (Thirty-Six) States that make up the Federal Republic of Nigeria are under the coordination of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the country, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, some factors may make some states difficult for residents to survive except the state government wake to their responsibilities which will, immensely, compliment the effort of the Federal Government to make all the nooks and cradles of the country, peaceful place to live and transact businesses.

The funny thing about the projected disruption of a peaceful environment in some Nigerian states could not be holistically disconnected from ethnicity, and regional relationship with the President of the country, Bola Tinubu.

Remarkably, the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, yesterday, has put an end to political and legal contests for the seat of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. With the judgment, the election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sealed and cemented to be void of any form of alleged irregularities as petitioned by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakr and his counterpart from the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.

However, with the deliverance of the Supreme Court judgment and noticeable factors that are peculiar to each of the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, it could be projected that some states in the Southeastern part of Nigeria may face a fresh return of insecurity and agitation for the State of Biafra.

Noticeably, the insecurity occurrences across the five states in the Southeastern part of Nigeria went into miraculous suspension, only, after Mr. Peter Obi defected from PDP to Labour Party to contest for the presidential seat of the country under the party. He was later endorsed by the majority of the people residing and those who hailed from the Southeast geopolitical zone.

Suspiciously, the insecurity campaign by the terrorist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group was put on hold on the eve of the presidential election to allow residents of the areas to take part in the 2023 general election where they gave their full support to Mr. Peter Obi.

The same suspension to the insecurity campaign by the IPOB and their sister groups pushing agitation for the creation of an independent state of Biafra may likely resurface from at least four of the five states in the Southeast with the possibility of severity in Imo State.

The return of the agitation across the Imo, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi States may assumably be ethnic-targeted and generally create a turbulent atmosphere to disrupt the concentration of the Federal Government of Nigeria, for the new months ahead of the 2027 General election.

The foresighted insecurity campaign in the Southeast may enjoy the support of the umbrella body of the sociocultural group of the region, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who has noticeably drawn a battle line with the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu claiming the region was faintly represented in his cabinet.

Business activities, living costs, and life expectancy across the Southeast geopolitical zone may be frustrated except the Federal Government of Nigeria goes the extra mile to forestall the return of the insecurity campaign in the region.
