Worried by the recent bandits' attack on three communities in Tangaza Local Government Area of the state, Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, on Monday evening met with the Heads of the various security agencies in the state.

The meeting was summoned to discuss the likely causes of the attack and proffer plausible solutions on how to prevent its recurrence.

The attack which affected three communities of Raka, Bingare, and Raka Dutsi, claimed the lives of 35 innocent people.

A statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Abubakar Bawa said, the meeting had resolved to harmonize the security architecture in the state.

It had also agreed to a modality of routinely, monitoring the activities of vigilante groups, and ensuring that they are properly screened to flush out the bad eggs among them.

Another agreement reached at the meeting was that the members of the vigilante groups should work hand in hand with the conventional security agencies to ensure total compliance with law and order.

The meeting also identified the lack of general welfare of security personnel attached to flashpoints, as one area that needs urgent attention to boost their morale.

During the meeting, it was discovered that security personnel on patrol along the flash points are being owed five months' allowances by the immediate past administration of Aminu Wasiri Tambuwal.

In the same vein, security vehicles being used to patrol the flash points are found to be unfit, and can not be effectively utilized for patrols.

The meeting also resolved to checkmate the activities of informants as a way of reducing bandits' attacks on innocent souls.

Responding, Governor Ahmed Aliyu promised to look into logistics and other challenges hindering the smooth operations of the security personnel deployed to flash points across the state.

While condemning the attack which he described as barbaric, the Governor appealed to the people of the state to assist security agencies with relevant information that would help in addressing banditry in their localities.

He reassured the government's determination to give security the attention it deserves.
