IGP Olukayode Egbetokun The Acting Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM has ordered the team of police officers who killed a civilian to report to the Force Headquarters, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Ag. Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, criticized the incident, in which a civilian lost his life as a "disturbing incident," which tallies with "an act of unprofessionalism and illegality".
The incident occurred when a police team ran a vehicle over a citizen on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Ekpoma, Edo State leading to the death of the innocent citizen.
Although the policemen involved in the incident were said to have been in detention in Edo State, the Ag. Inspector General of Police, Egbetokun has ordered them to report at the Force Headquarters, Abuja on Monday for further action.
According to a press release by the Police Federal Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, FPRO the IGP enjoins members of the public, particularly the people of Ekpoma, to remain calm as the present leadership of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) will not condone such an act of unprofessionalism and illegality.
