Mixed reactions greeted the celebration of a Point of Sale (POS) operator in Kano who returned N9.9 million mistakenly transferred to him by one of his clients.
The Kano State Police command had on Thursday, March 14th, 2024 announced that it had found the owner of the excess money.
The Police, while celebrating the integrity of the POS operator, stated that the man contacted the police to help him search for the owner of the excess money after realizing that his client mistakenly transferred N10 million to him instead of N10,000 during a withdrawal operation.
The Police said it took them three months to identify the owner of the excess money, and the behavior of the POS operator is emulative.
Kano State Police command, in a statement said, “... As the POS Operator reported to the Police that he has realized that one of his customers who is yet to be identified wrongly transferred to his account Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000:00) instead of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000:00).”
"And it took the Police investigation three (03) months period in identify the owner of the excess money. After getting all the proofs, CP Gumel casts encomium to both the POS Operator and the Police team from the State CID for the display of honesty, integrity, and professionalism and encourages others to follow this rare exemplary track," the statement added.
Dragging the Police some Nigerians called on the Police to rather emulate the character of the POS man, and celebrate themselves. However, some Nigerians while praising the POS operator appreciated God on his behalf because he was not eventually roped in by the Police despite his good mind.
