Nyesom Wike The main opposition party in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has once again failed to settle the grievances that the majority of its members across the nation are nursing against the immediate former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
Recall that Nyesom Wike, an active member of the PDP, was said to have allegedly worked against the interest of his political party during the 2023 Presidential election; he was accused of working for the candidacy of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who later advanced to emerge winner of the keenly contested February 2023 Presidential election.
Since the conclusion of the Presidential election, some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been expecting the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to suspend or expel Mr Nyesom Wike for what they called anti-party activities.
The quest to suspend Nyesom Wike became intense, recently after he was nominated and successfully screened as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even when his political party, PDP is still at the tribunal where it is challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.
However, after the stakeholder meeting of the party which was held today in Abuja, the NWC of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has once again failed to suspend or expel Nyesom Wike as member of the political party.
Unfortunately, majority of the people demanding for suspension or expulsion of Nyesom Wike from the PDP might have forgotten that if the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has decided to run a government of National Unity, the nomination of Nyesom Wike as Minister in the Federal Republic of Nigeria may hardly be established as an act of anti-party activity. Recall that late Chief Ajobola Ige of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD) also accepted to serve as a Minister under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was produced by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
