Situations at Oda town in Akure South Local Government Area at the weekend were panicking as strangers, suspected to be indigenes of Gombe State, invaded the community in three motorcycles.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, SP. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said, “On the 16th of February around, 2 pm, Police attached calll1lda Division received a distress call that strangers whose faces were unknown are being conveyed in 3 vehicles into Oda town.

“ALLEGE INVASION OF ODA TOWN BY SUSPECTED FARM LABOURERS; The Police team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Oda division moved swiftly into the community and invited them for questioning.

“After they were questioned on their mission to the state, their leader claimed they were laborers who had come to the state to work on farmlands in various farm settlements and reserves.

“Both their persons, vehicles, and baggages were searched and nothing incriminating was found in their possession, the details of the labourers and pictures were taken and documented by the State Criminal Investigation Department.

“Some individuals who are indigenes of the state came forward to identify some of the passengers as their farm hands. Thus the passengers have been handed over to the Chairman of Gombe State in Oda town after he has been identified by his landlord after documentation.

“The CP applauds and thanks the Royal Highness, kings in council, youths, and residents of Oda Kingdom for vigilance and spirit of oneness displayed while appealing to other communities to take a cue.

“The command wishes to prevail on the good people of the state to be tirelessly vigilant and report any suspicious activities and movements of persons to the police and other security apparatus of the state. While assuring of the command’s willingness to provide safe environments for the law-abiding residents of the state,” said Odunlami-Omisanya.
