Bola Tinubu Ex-aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has reacted to the choice of people appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chief of Staff.
President Bola Tinubu has earlier approved tye appointment of the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff, Office of the And Senator George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Reacting to the choice of the people that President Tinubu chose to fill the positions, Omokri said it balanced the Muslim-Christian political dichotomy that usually influence acceptability of political appointments by Nigerians.
Reno Omokri okayed the academic and political experience of both George Akume and Gbajabiamila and described their appointment as round pegs in round holes.
Omokri said "I like how President Bola Tinubu balanced the two most important appointments in his government between Christians and Muslims, naming George Akume, a Christian Middle-Belter, as his Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Femi Gbajabiamila, a Muslim Southwesterner, as his Chief of Staff. Both men have the necessary educational qualifications and political experience for the positions they are to fill. Round pegs in round holes.
Talking about the allegations that trended during the presidential campaign that the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) was an attempt to islamize the country, Omokri confessed that he is convinced with President Tinubu's appointments, so far that the allegations was a mere one. He however said he would not hesitate to speak out once he notices deviation in the religious balance as Tinubu's administration may be concerned.
He said "So far, he is keeping his promise of not Islamising his administration. So far, so good. If he derails, we will give details.
Sarcastically, Omokri said "We will still meet you in court, where I hope our petition to unseat you succeeds. But for now, well done!
