It was unimaginable, mostly where democracy has been projected by many people to have been enslaved, the city boy of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu losing his political home base, Lagos State, to an opposition, Labour Party in an election where Tinubu is in the race.

Although the results of the election held in Lagos came against the expectations of many people, it shows transparency, freedom, and fairness enjoy enjoyed by the electoral body in the course of conducting the election which many people are still confused about what might have been responsible for it cause.

Among the reasons that led to the defeat of the presidential candidate of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his Lagos State could be traced to the religious politics that was played by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi. The majority of the Pastors instruct their congregation to cast their votes for Labour Party because he is a Christian. As a result of this, many Christians residing in Lagos State cast their votes heavily for Labour Party against the man who has been there for them, over the years. This was to mark their opposition to the Muslim-Muslim ticket that Tinubu flies.

Besides, the majority of the youthful population who were brainwashed by some politicians through some allegedly paid celebrities to believe that Tinubu has hands on the October 20, 2020, alleged ENDSARS killing formed a bond of insurrection and cast their votes against his party, APC, in favor of the Peter Obi's Labour Party, with the hope that Peter Obi will leave them unchecked in the course of doing their illegal activity, Yahoo Yahoo which led to the ENDSARS protest.

Also, Aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State cast their votes for the Labour Party which they see as a former member of their party who left for the same reason that is making them aggrieved.

Last, the population of Igbo people in Lagos State cast their votes along the ethnic line. So, the vast majority of the Igbo population doing business in Lagos cast their votes for Peter Obi's Labour Party.
