Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu The former Secretary to the Edo State Government and 2020 Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has declared his intention to contest for the Governorship seat of Edo State in the 2024 off-cycle gubernatorial election in the state.
Ize-Iyamu was the major opposition to Governor Godwin Obaseki in 2020 which he contested under the platform of the same party, APC. He lost to Godwin Obaseki of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at the poll.
Ize-Iyamu, while declaring his intention to join the 2024 governorship contest in Edo, stated he would stick to his SIMPLE agenda. This is the third time Pastor Ize-Iyamu will be contesting for the governorship seat of Edo State.
Ize-Iyamu outlined the components of his agenda, stating, “Security, Infrastructure Development, Manpower Development, Public/Private Partnership, Leadership by example, and Employment creation.”
During his declaration, Ize-Iyamu reflected on his experience, saying, “Having served as Secretary to the State Government and a previous governorship candidate of the party, I possess the required experience to be governor. We lost the 2020 election because our leaders outside the state chose to vote against us.”
