Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has reaffirmed his stance on the leadeeship of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, stressing that Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi remains the authentic speaker.

Engineer Sule reaffirmed his earlier stance and that of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), shortly after administering oath of office to the reappointed Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu, seven newly appointed permanent secretaries, as well as two members of the state judicial service commission, at the Government House, on Tuesday.

This is just as the Governor appealed for calm while his administration moves to resolve the impasse at the state assembly.

"It's normal to have this kind of misunderstanding if you have a group of people that will not intend to listen to their party or to listen to some elders. It's not out of place.

"We will continue to be calm and we will take it one day at a time. As a matter of fact, the speaker that we recognized has already called for a recess. During this recess, the Nasarawa State Government has decided to lock down the state house of assembly until we resolve this matter," he stated.

Engineer Sule further disclosed that his administration will equally seek for a judicial interpretation of the action so far taken on the assembly imbroglio.

Engineer Sule used the opportunity of the event to congratulate President Ahmed Bola Tinubu on the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio and Hon. Tajudeen Abass as the senate president and House of Representatives speaker respectively.

"I also want to use the opportunity to congratulate the new Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who, indeed, is somebody that our president supported and the party supported. And the governors also supported.

"Similarly, I also congratulate the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abass on his emergence," he added.

The Governor appreciated both the senators and members of the House of Representatives for their support to the president so that he can have people he can work with amicably.

Commenting on the hardships being encountered by the people as a result of the removal of oil subsidy, Engineer Sule disclosed that governors of the 36 states have met with President Tinubu where issues of palliative to cushion the hardships were discussed.

He assured that the Federal Government will provide some palliative to cushion the hardships brought about by the removal of the oil subsidy.

The Governor announced that his administration will also offer some palliative to the people of the state.

"On our own part, as a responsive government, we are also working with the Federal government to come out with some special palliative purely from the state government, in addition to whatever will come from the Federal Government.

"Some of the things we are trying to do will include some level of reduced transport fair from the buses that we have ordered. We are also looking at increasing the number of people benfiting from the poverty reduction initiative which we have already started, the AA Sule money. We will increase the number of people getting that money and we will also increase the amount. These are some of the palliative that we intend to support our people while also looking at the various areas in which we can support civil servants," he stated.
