President Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar Nigerian citizens on Twitter have expressed mixed reactions as Daniel Bwala, spokesman of the Presidential Campaign Council of the former vice president and 2023 presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and vice president Kashim Shettima on their inauguration.
Daniel Bwala who congratulated Tinubu and Shettima on their take of Oath as President and Vice President of tye Federal Republic of Nigeria offered prayer to God to grant the Nigerian leaders wisdom and courage to govern the country.
Bwala's congratulatory message to President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima reads "May I congratulate Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT and Kashim Shetima @KashimSM for taking the oath of office and allegiance as the 16th President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of NIgeria to defend the constitution and administer the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I pray that God almighty give you both the wisdom and courage to govern this great nation with honesty, sincerity and integrity. My best wishes politics aside."
Reacting to Bwala's congratulatory message to Tinubu and Shettima, some netizens showed happiness and glorified Bwala for displaying art of statesmanship, regardless of political differences. However, some citizens condemned the action saying Bwala's congratulatory message to Tinubu and Shettima may be quoted by the public to have represented the interest of his principal, Atiku Abubakar who is still in court challenging the presidential victory of Tinubu before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.
Some of the selected reactions to Bwala's congratulatory message to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima are:
Dr El Mo: This is unnecessary, Mr Bwala. You are an official spokesman and the press can use it to say @Atiku congratulate Tinubu. The case is in court. Congrats can come afterwards if, at all, necessary. What you have done seems like opportunistic politics in public.
