Manchester United Condoles with ex-Manager, Sir Alex Firguson

Manchester United's for er football manager, Sir Alex Firguson has lost his lifelong partner, Lady Cathy. This was disclosed in a condolence message sent to the veteran football manager by his former club, Manchester United.

Lady Cathy, 84, has been married to Sir Alex Firguson since 1966.

According to Sir Alex Firguson, "We got married in Glasgow registry office in 1966 and that was the start. I went to my work and he went to his football.” Sir Alex himself spoke about their relationship and of his debt to Cathy upon his retirement as manager of Manchester United in 2013, after 27 years in the job.

Sharing the new life experience with Sir Firguson, Management of the Manchester United Football Club's condolence message to him reads:

"Everyone at Manchester United sends our heartfelt condolences to Sir Alex Ferguson and his family on the passing of Lady Cathy.

"Lady Cathy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a tower of strength for Sir Alex throughout his career.

"As a mark of respect, our players will wear black armbands during Saturday's game against Brentford.
