Kano Gov Abba Presents Prison as His First Project to Fight Phone Snatchers

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has unveiled prison as the first project he will deliver to the residents in the state as he resumed Office as the Executive Governor of the state.

Governor Abba disclosed this while speaking at a get-together event with the members of his party, New Nigerian People's Party (NNPP).

Governor Abba expressed unhappiness at the high rate at which drug abuse, phone snatching, and penny street crimes occur in the state. He said it is utmost for his administration to reopen the Kiru Reformatory School, a correctional center being operated by the state.

"My first port of call after the inauguration, yesterday, was the Kiru Reformatory School, which will be fully reopened soonest for the purpose of rehabilitating drug addicts," Governor Abba stated.

He stated further that "Due to the persistent cases of armed robbery (especially phone snatching), and other violent crimes being perpetrated on the streets of our State. We have formed a Special Joint Taskforce to fight phone snatching and other street crimes. This Taskforce comprises teams from law enforcement agencies and mobile courts that would work together to clear the streets of these criminals and bring all of them to justice swiftly.
