MTN Server Hacker An upcoming information technology student of the University of Benin is said to have been arrested for allegedly breaking into the Database of African telecommunication giant, MTN, clearing all the credit debts owed by millions of customers of the firm.
The guy, who is said to be 24 years old, for reasons best known to him allegedly wiped all the credit debt profile of millions of MTN customers across Nigeria, having beaten the security firewalls installed by the telecommunication giant, MTN, to defend its database server.
Recall that recently, all the customers of MTN in Nigeria experienced their credit debt profile set to 0.00, a situation that led many customers to hastily burrow more credits from the telecommunication giant which were still set to null, 0.00.
The break in normalcy took MTN some days before it could restore the system, calling on the data available in its standalone backup databases.
When the report of the arrest of the IT guy was published on the X timeline of one user, @AkpraiseMedia, people were pessimistic although no one could give a reason for the action taken by the IT student.
In some people's opinions, they suggested the IT guy is preparing himself not for a red-heart or black-heart hacker but a gray-heart hacker who may want to use his IT knowledge to set people free from financial burdens.
Amazingly, many Nigerians online pleaded on behalf of the allegedly arrested IT student while the majority of residents begged MTN to employ him as he has displayed technicality that is superior to whatever they may currently possess in IT expertise.
However, the report is skeptical of whether the IT student ever worked with the MTN software developer team or has a relationship with any of the present or former staff of the telecommunication giant in Africa.
Also, no further report has been heard about the IT guy, and probably his recent activities targeting other institutions that use IT to run their daily business transactions.
