Hope Uzodinma Sanwo-Olu Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, in company of the Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kaku have led Igbo market leaders who transact businesses in Lagos to plea with the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the conduct of the ethnic group during the last governorship elections in the state, and the ongoing demolition of some buildings at Alaba International Market which were said to be obsolete and dangerous to the life of the innocent citizens.
However, despite the available information that have been roll out about the buildings that are being demolished at Alaba International Market, some people are still speculating that the Governor was on the mission of ethnic cleansing, which was alleged to be targeting the Igbos.
Although Governor Sanwo-Olu insisted that the demolition has no relation with the last governorship elections in the state, Governor Uzodinma while speaking after the meeting with Sanwo-olu. He said:
"Just as communicated earlier, I was joined by the Deputy Speaker Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu as we led a delegation of Igbo business community in Lagos to H.E. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
"The meeting was quite productive as the Governor assured that no policy or program will ever be designed against the Igbos or any other tribe. I am delighted as he swiftly constituted a Technical Committee to resolve issues raised by our people.
"On this note, I commended His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the audience and avowed commitment to guaranteeing continued safety for all Igbos and other ethnic nationalities in the State.
"We have sustained peaceful coexistence in our region, South East, with other ethnic nationals and our cohabitation across the nation should be reciprocated with peaceful coexistence, this I am glad that the Governor reassured.
"I therefore, encouraged our people in Lagos State to go about their normal lawful endeavours for Nigeria belongs to all of us and together, we shall continue to build it.
