Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State visited an Oyo Community, Iganna yesterday where there was a communal crisis between residents of the community.

On Saturday, the Iganna community was thrown into a chaotic moment when the Fulani residents had to face off with the indigenous Yoruba people living in the area.

The cause of the crisis was not made known but it may not be dissociated from the usual cause of herders-farmers crisis elsewhere in the country.

Governor Makinde, while visiting the community yesterday, condemned the clash which lead to the loss of lives and property of the residents. He also encouraged all residents of the area to stop what he called "the cycle of violence and retaliatory attacks"

Governor Makinde said "This afternoon, we visited Iganna Town for an on-the-spot assessment following the clashes between Fulanis and indigenes two days ago which led to the loss of lives and properties. I urged all residents to stop the cycle of violence and retaliatory attacks and thanked the security agencies whose timely intervention helped to contain and de-escalate the situation.

"I promised that we would work with the security agencies to ensure that the victims received justice and that the culprits were brought to book. May the souls of the victims rest in peace, Governor Makinde added.
