Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida The former military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) has revealed that the late civil rights lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi, identified him throughout his tenure as the Head of State as an Evil Genius.
The former Head of State stated that the perception had caused Fawehinmi to always stay away from him even though he did everything possible to make Fawehinmi a friend.
Ibrahim Babangida further stated that one of his ministers, Alex Akinyele, also tried in vain to create friendship between him and Fawehinmi.
Speaking on a live TV interview Programme, the former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida said:
“He (Fawehinmi) is a good critic and he doesn’t want to be seen with someone that people already perceived as ‘an evil genius.’
“I like listening to him. I made it a point to become his friend. He was very friendly with one of my former ministers, the late Alex Akinyele; they were very good friends, and he tried to make us very good friends.
“If we come up with a policy, my first question to my staff was: What would Gani Fawehinmi say?”
