Football Event From the 2023 edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), the 2023/2024 seasons of the English Premier League, and Spanish La Liga to Coupe de France, the world of football welcomed rain of goals on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
The world of football has been on holiday witnessing seasons of shocking goal differences between competing football clubs, until yesterday when the rain of goals hit four continental football tournaments, including the Nations Cup in Africa, and league football events happening across European countries which include England, Spain, and France.
Yesterday, a match between Namibia and South Africa changed the fortune of the ongoing AFCON as South Africa became the first team in the tournament to defeat its opponent, dastardly, it looked like the football event was a training session.
I remember the English commentator passed a remark at the end of the Namibia vs South Africa AFCON match late Sunday night, it was nothing different from a Namibia attending a gun war with knives, and it was irrecoverably shattered by the armored football elegance of South Africa who defeated Namibia four (4) goals to nill.
The 4-0 victory between South Africa and Namibia remains the highest victory, so far, by a club in the ongoing AFCON competition.
On the same day, Liverpool Football Club was away to AFC Bournemouth's home in the English Premier League where it extended its lead in the English Football competition by 4 goals to nil, defeating AFC Bournemouth before their very own mouth-watered fan base. With the victory, Liverpool is now leading the English Premier League table with five (5) clear points.
In the Spanish La Liga, former Spanish football leader, and recognizably still a leader in the league, Barcelona locked horns with its host, Real Betis who was at home.
It was Real Betis 2-4 Barcelona after the 90 minutes of playtime as the world of football rained goals yesterday in the Spanish La Liga.
Coupe de France's match between Rennes and one-time French giant, Olympic Marseille ended with thunderous 19 goals in a single match.
After the final whistle was blown, although the match ended Rennes 1-1 Marseille but the spectacular match ended Rennes 10 - 9 Marseille as the home side took the lead in the penalty shootouts.
