Manchester Derby matches between the two neighboring Manchester United and Manchester City, have been one of the greatest fixtures in the English Premier League and other competitions where it takes place.

This evening, Manchester United will play host to their walk-in neighbouring football club, Manchester City in the 2023/2024 edition of the English Premier League. Before the kick-off of today’s Manchester Derby, let us quickly run through how the last three derby matches were settled between the two famous clubs, Manchester United and Manchester City.

March 20, 2016 Manchester Derby



Manchester was away to Manchester City in the March 20th, 2016 Manchester Derby where the then 18-year-old Manchester United player, Marcus Rashford put the visiting Manchester United in the lead in the first half of the match with a ball collected from Juan Mata and skipped past Martin Demichelis., which Joe Hart became helpless to safe. Rashford’s goal happened to be the only goal scored by any player at the City’s Etihad Stadium in 2016.

The 2016 Manchester Derby at the Etihad Stadium was the first taken by Rashford and he sealed the game with his lone goal in the first half of the match.

March 8, 2020



The Lockdown Year’s version of the Manchester Derby took place on March 8th, 2020. The Derby match was played just before the world was put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Martial pushed in a hard strike with a volley which emerged from a free-kick played by Fernandes. Joined with a second goal which came from Scott-McTominay’s finish, Manchester United maintained the strength of Old Trafford with 2 goals to nil.

January 14th, 2023



The January 2023’s Manchester Derby had the vising side in the neighborhood match, Manchester City taking the lead in the first half before Fernandes’s strike put the host side, Manchester United on the equaliser.

Manchester United player Marcus Rashford brilliantly fired a shot past City’s goal stopper, Ederson, and the City’s early lead was buried with victory for Manchester United. Rashford’s goal for Manchester United, however, stirred air at the Old Trafford as the goal generated controversy but it was later resolved in favor of the Old Trafford’s guys.
