Godwin Obaseki Edo State government under Governor Godwin Obaseki has put an end to the transmission of physical files in creating communication channels among ministries, departments, and agencies of the government.
The new development was announced in a memo signed by the State Head of Service, E. O Edionweme.
In the memo, Mr. Edionweme stated that Governor Obaseki has approved the prohibition of physical files with an immediate endorsement of the paperless mode of communication among public sector workers.
With this development, the commissioners, Special Advisers, Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries, and Executives of the government agencies and boards will be required to transmit their files through a dedicated server and the State Governor will also need to give digital approval to memos from the MDAs with no the abolition of the physical files in the state.
If successfully done, Edo State would be the first Nigerian state government to fully transition to a paperless government.
