Road Accident A ghastly road accident has claimed 13 lives with 36 others sustaining various degrees of injury after a Dangote Truck lost its control and fell by the side of the road.
The accident which occurred yesterday Friday, December 15th, 2023 received swift action from the officers of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), North Central Zonal, Jos, whose timely intervention minimized the number of casualties.
Giving the account of the accident, the North Central command of NEMA, Jos Office stated the accident was caused by brake failure.
13 people died on the spot while 36 others sustained various degrees of injury in the road accident which occurred at Hawan Kibo, Jos, Plateau State capital.
"Eight victims who sustained minor injuries were taken to the Hawan Kibo command clinic, Ten of them were taken to Anglican Hospital, Gidan Waya in Kaduna State while 9 in the military hospital there in Hawan Kibo and the remaining 9 in Vom Christian Hospital while the 13 corps where deposited in Plateau specialist hospital Jos," North Central command of NEMA, Jos Office stated.
The victims are passengers, traveling with the Dangote Truck, and no other vehicle was involved in the accident. Officers of the NEMA and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) worked together to clear the road and ensure the safety of other road users.
