Even though there is variation in the actual number of Almajiri Schools built by former Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan in his bid to integrate Western Education into Islamic Education Curriculum, it is evidenced that  President Goodluck Jonathan's administration built about 165 Almajiri schools in the northern Nigeria.

While some reports claimed varied numbers of Almajiri schools ranging from 135 Almajiri Schools, 165 Almajiri Schools and 200 Almajiri Schools, TheRoundTable could trace 165 Almajiri Schools to one of the statements released by the former President himself, Goodluck Jonathan, sometimes in 2017 after he left office.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, while presenting a paper titled ‘Conscience based leadership: the secret to global peace and security’, on Friday September 8th, 2017 at the International Summit on Peace, organised by the Junior Chambers International, JCI, in Kuching, Malaysia, revealed that:

In Nigeria, there were 10.5 million (about 15% of the population) out-of-school children who were of school age, going by UNICEF figures, as at the time I became President."

Over 80% of these children, majority of whom are known as Almajiri, came from the northern part of Nigeria, where I recorded the least votes in the elections I contested.

Knowing the value of education…my administration decided to build 165 Almajiri Integrated Model Schools which combined both western and Islamic education in its curricula.

Regardless of the variety in the acclaimed actual number of Almajiri schools built by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, TheRoundTable presents list of some of the schools as against growing speculation from some sectors that no Almajiri Schools was built by the  administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
