Oyo State government has cleared over 300 illegal structures surrounding public schools in the state. The action was taken in response to Governor Seyi Makinde's dissatisfaction with the state of the illegal structures surrounding the public schools in the state. The governor expressed his dissatisfaction when he paid an unscheduled night inspection to some of the public schools in the state, recently.

According to a Press Statement signed by the Honorable Commissioner for Information and Orientation in the state, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the exercise which was supervised by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Architect Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola showed the government's commitment towards returning sanity to the public schools in Oyo State.
