The popular Nigerian activist, VeryDarkMan, is trending again for a preemptive allegation of cyber crime, this time coming from the country's drug regulatory agency, National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

NAFDAC says it has reported VeryDarkMan to some sister agencies to determine if he has committed cyber crime against the agency or not. The outcome of this report may mark the beginning of another ordeal between VeryDarkMan and NAFDAC.

What really happened was "VeryDarkMan in a viral video accused NAFDAC staff of demanding N700,000 bribe from each of the owners of the Open drug shop sealed by the agency at the Bridge Head Market, Onitsha, Anambra State.

The allegation seems to have badly hit the Head of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye who presently weighing options whether to sue VeryDarkMan or not for incitement.

Prof. Mojisola while rejecting the allegation leveled against the NAFDAC staff, suggested that VeryDarkMan could be working with the illegal open drug shop operators who have failed to come forward for proper identification and registration.

The NAFDAC boss stated that about 2500 drug shop operators have been duly screened and allowed to go back and open their shops at the Bridge Head Market while those who were running from NAFDAC could be suspected of sponsoring such incitement against the agency.

She said NAFDAC recently decided to heavily come down on operators selling substandard, expired, and banned medicines, and the agency between February 9 and March 27, 2025, carried out coordinated raids on major open drug markets including Idumota in Lagos, Ariaria in Aba, and Bridge Head in Onitsha.

The operation allowed NAFDAC to remove counterfeit drugs and unregistered products valued at over a trillion naira from the markets.

Some words from the statement released by the Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye while watering VeryDarkMan's allegation against her staff read: “All the warehouses, shops, and parking stores in the three Open Drug Markets did not meet the minimum requirements… More importantly, there was no proof of registration… a clear contravention/violation of the pertinent extant law of the federation.

“It is pertinent to note that the remaining few shops whose owners have refused to come forward for identification are the ones with outrightly banned narcotics according to our database. The cartel, along with their co-conspirators, are the ones creating incitements to divert attention from the real issues to escape the long arm of the law for the heinous crimes being committed against humanity.

So, this may not be the end as NAFDAC may choose to pick the issue up against VeryDarkMan if the agency finds him wanting of deliberately collaborating with the illicit drug dealers to invite the public against the agency.
