Nigeria has 36 states with the Constitutional requirement that for any candidate to be declared as a winner of the presidential election, the candidate must poll at least 25% in not lesser than 24 states and the candidate must also score the majority vote.
However, there is a state in Nigeria that is posing itself as a norm for any presidential candidate that wants to win the general election in Nigeria to win.
Fact-checking shows that every president of Nigeria since 199, won the state.
Kwara State was won by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999 and 2003 and he proceeded to win the presidential election in the country.
In 2007, election results in Kwara State were allegedly manipulated, and severely that the state did not have its election results collated. Umaru Yar'Adua allegedly won the cancelled result and proceeded to win the presidential election.
In 2011, Goodluck Jonathan won the presidential election in Kwara State and proceeded to win the general election in the said year.
In 2015 and 2019, Muhammadu Buhari won the presidential election in Kwara State and proceeded to win the two presidential contests.
The collation of the 2023 presidential election is on, will history repeat itself or Kwara State will join Benue State which left the calibre of Presidential-Election determining states in 2019 when Alhaji Atiku Abubakar won the state and later lose the general election to Muhammadu Buhari who won in Kwara State.
