113 senior officers of the Nigerian Nigerian Army retired from active service, yesterday, Wednesday, December 20th, 2023.

Minister of Defense, Atiku Bagudu, was full of eulogy and praises towards the great men who have sacrificed everything they had for the safety of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

At a dinner night organized for the retired and retiring military general, the Minister expressed his honor and respect for their contribution to the sovereignty of Nigeria throughout the years in service. He, however, implored other security services to emulate the army for they have done great in the Western part of Africa.

The breakdown includes one General, one Lieutenant General, 67 Major Generals, and 44 Brigadier Generals

Badaru, celebrating with the great men further encouraged members of the Armed Forces to remain loyal and sustain the culture of supporting democracy in Nigeria and across the shores.

He said, "The disposition of the Armed Forces towards democracy had made it a shining example in West Africa and an influencer in the comity of nations, with a promise that the Federal Government of Nigeria will continue to do all within its reach to improve the well-being of serving and retired personnel.”

The minister noted that the occasion provided the Nigerian Army the opportunity to reflect on its service and profound dedication as demonstrated by the retired and retiring senior officers.

Also speaking at the occasion, the. Chief of Army Staff, Taoheed Lagbaja, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly for their support towards repositioning the Nigerian Army to greater feet while he also assured them of the military's unalloyed support for democracy in the country, for the constitution and the rule of law.

He encouraged the retired and retiring generals to "appreciate God and the Nigerian Army for a successful sojourn in the ‘noble profession of arms’ and attaining the point of meritorious disengagement from active service.
