What Govt Is Planning To Do To Pastor Ezekiel's 15 Bank Accounts As New Info Emerge About His Case

What Govt Is Planning To Do To Pastor Ezekiel
Pastor Ezekiel
The government is seeking to freeze 15 bank accounts belonging to Pastor Ezekiel Odero' s New Life Church. However, his attorney, Danstan Omari, has filed a legal challenge in an attempt to prevent the government from carrying out this action.

Omari has brought a lawsuit before the Mombasa High Court seeking directions to prohibit interference with religious activities taking place at Pastor Ezekiel' s church, including prayer sessions. He argues that freezing Odero' s bank accounts is unjust since the claims made against him are false, without any supporting evidence, and scandalous.

In his application, Omari cited two of the 15 bank accounts that should not be frozen by the government, Cooperative and NCBA, which are both cooperatives. He is requesting that the court issue a conservatory order temporarily restraining the government from taking adverse action against Odero or New Life Prayer Centre and Church, including freezing the church accounts in Cooperative Bank and NCBA bank.

The recent allegations against Odero involve people dying at his church and their remains being secretly buried in a forest called Shakahola, which is said to belong to another pastor named Paul Mackenzie. Odero was taken into custody a few days ago, and investigations are now being conducted to determine whether he and Mackenzie are responsible for the crime. The situation raises questions about religious freedom and government intervention in religious institutions. While the government has a duty to investigate and prosecute crimes, it should do so in a way that respects the rights of individuals and organizations, including churches.

In this case, it is unclear whether the allegations against Odero are true, and freezing his church' s bank accounts before a thorough investigation has been conducted is premature. Omari' s legal challenge seeks to protect his client' s rights and ensure that due process is followed. It remains to be seen how the court will rule on the conservatory order and the allegations against Odero and Mackenzie. However, the case highlights the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of all individuals and organizations, regardless of their religious affiliation.
