Somadina and the corpse of his mother Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has detained a young Anambra man, Somadina, who was accused of killing his mother, Mrs Charity Orji; and his sister, Miss Ukamaka Orji, and buried them in a shallow grave in their backyard in Umuagu Inyi, Enugu.
The incident which happened on Monday, December 4th, 2023 at Umuagu Inyi, Orji Rivers Local Government Area of Enugu State was said to have been influenced by Somadina’s addiction to drugs.
Somadina who hails from Igboariam in Anambra State was said to have killed her mother and sister at different day intervals as her sister, Ukamaka, was said to have been missing for days before a day when Somadina had an issue with his younger brother and wanted to hit his younger brother but for their mother’s intervention.
Their mother stopped Somadina from hitting his brother and asked him to leave her house for the atmosphere to become calm.
When Somadina’s brother returned home and could not find his mother, he raised the alarm and informed the villagers who came together in search of his missing mother, who was widely described as a hardworking person by the villagers.
On interrogation, Somadina, an alleged drug addict, revealed that he killed his mother and the missing sister but refused to give a reason to have done that.
The villagers persuaded Somadina to reveal the shallow graves of his mother and sister, and was later forced to exhume their bodies.
Her mother’s body was still fresh, with blood profusely coming out of her ears while the remains of her started have decompose but her skeleton was retrieved into a blue plastic bag before the Police were invited to take over the case. The police were also said to have taken possession of the exhumed bodies and deposited them at the morgue.
Although Somadina is in police custody, in a viral video which unveiled the incident people expressed opinions to bury Somadina in the same grave where he buried his mother.
