As of today, July 3rd, 2025, there are 36 States in the Federal Republic of Nigeria with five (5) political parties ruling the affairs of the states.

The ruling party at the center, All Progressives Congress (APC) is ruling at 23 states with possibilities of increments as some State Governors continue defecting from their political parties to APC; main opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) is ruling at 10 states while All Progressive Grand Alliances (APGA), New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) and Labour Party rule a state each.
