Suspected Fake EFCC Officials Nasarawa State Police command has confirmed the death of one of the 4-man robbery syndicate who terrorize Nasarawa State parading themselves as officials of the Nigerian anti-graft agency, Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Angry mob who unveiled the criminal act of the syndicate faking EFCC operatives had beaten one of the 4-man criminal gang to death even tye police attempted to rescue his life, Nasarawa Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, stated.
Police spokesman said the deceased was
“caught and beaten mercilessly by an angry mob before the arrival of the Police while others fled. The suspect was rescued from the mob by the Police and rushed to Primary Health Care, Laminga, where he died while receiving treatment.”
Police which later announced the arrest of the fleeing gangsters disclosed that the syndicate used Toyota Corolla, Green in colour with registration number Abuja YAB 509 TT to commit the crimes
The fake EFCC officials have been robbing students of Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa at Samakwe Lodge behind Government College, Nasarawa and abducting one Adudu Kingsley, an ND II Student of the same Polytechnic.
Police unveiled names of the arrested suspects to include Hyelda Aliyu Ibrahim, Henry Patrick Okwu and Shuaibu Abubakar who are all residents of Customs Quarters and Up Market area of Masaka, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State.
The items recovered from the suspects include operational vehicle, one iPhone 12 promax, Huawei and one Tecno Spark 5 earlier robbed from some of their victims and Fake EFCC ID cards as exhibits.
“The suspects have confessed to be the syndicate responsible for robbing and terrorising student areas in Keffi and Nasarawa LGA.
“Effort is ongoing to arrest one identified suspect that is at large. Victims of their nefarious activities have come forward and identified the suspects,” the statement reads further.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Shehu Umar Nadada has ordered the transfer of the case to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for further investigations and assured that they will be charged to Court for prosecution once investigation is concluded.
