Rotimi Akeredolu Two great Nigerians, Rotimi Akeredolu, a former Governor of Ondo State, and Ghali Umar Na’abba second Speaker of the House of Representatives have given up to the ghost. Nigeria lost the two men to ailments.
Governor Akeredolu was reportedly dead after battling with leukemia over the past few years. He was recently flown to Germany for medical attention. Akeredolu returned to Nigeria amidst frustration from the Office of his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the opposition party in the state, the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
A few weeks ago, Akeredolu transferred power to his Deputy, Aiyedatiwa as Acting Governor, and he was scheduled for another medical vacation.
Akeredolu is said to have died in a secret residence in Lagos at 67.
Na’abba died on Wednesday morning at the National Hospital in Abuja after a brief Illness. He was 65.
Na'aba, the second Speaker of the House of Representatives in the current 4th Republic.
He was elected Member of the House of Representatives in 1999 from Kano State. He became the Speaker a few months after the inauguration of the House following the resignation of the then Speaker, Salisu Buhari over a certificate forgery scandal.
