Acclaimed Longest Fish in the world
There is a trending claim on some social media platforms that the longest fish in the world has been found in Nigeria, the most populous black country in the world, and the long-term acclaimed giant of Africa.
The posters of the claim gave no idea of the location of where the fish was found. However, after running some checks on the claim, The RoundTable has been able to detect the claim to be fiction and far from being true.
First, it is understood by The Round Table that the length of the acclaimed longest fish in the world is far shorter than the length of a blue whale.
Arguably, an average blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) is a marine mammal and a baleen whale. Reaching a maximum confirmed length of 29.9 meters (98 ft) and weighing up to 199 tonnes (196 long tons; 219 short tons), it is the largest animal, and not just fish, known ever to have existed.
Besides, the acclaimed longest fish said to be found in Nigeria looked to be more an artistic work and rather a pictorial representation of real-life events.
Not only this, but taking a keen look at the people captured in the picture, they look more like people who leave in Chad, Niger Republic, Portugal, or India than how an average Nigerian (even the far Northerners) looks.
Besides, a search on the internet showed that the same picture had been used severally online by different people from various parts of the world to push for a related claim.
An online search showed YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook content where the suspicious anaconda fish had been used to push different stories.
