Nigerian Politicians
Sourcing for the father of modern politics in the Federal Republic of Nigeria today, the person must have participated in the struggle to restore constitutional order to the country during the military regime; likewise, the person must have maintained political relevance over the change in the political dispensations since 1999. Not only these, but a fitted person must also have won political accolades through the period in view, he must have built "Political Generals" who can face the political wars in his political territory and fight to victory.

In 1999, many politicians entered into the race toward becoming the "Father of Modern Politics" in Nigeria but today, only a few of them have maintained

Although we have many politicians who could be considered as having the trait, trace, or opportunities to become "Father of Modern Politics" in Nigeria only two politicians are close to the race while only one of them has passed the test of being given the respect that a "Father of the Modern Politics" of Nigeria may deserve.

Let us run through a list of some notable politicians who could have been on the consideration list but reasonably failed to earn themselves the pass mark.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was the President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, he made the People's Democratic Party (PDP) the largest political party in Africa by winning a higher percentage of elected positions in the country than any of the other parties. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo could not make the list of the "Father of Modern Politics" in Nigeria because his political goodwill failed to surpass his presidential tenure. He began to have issues with his party, and political followers even before he left office as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2007. Besides, without the use of state power, no political officeholder can come out today to boast he won his election on Chief Olusegun Obasanjo's political influence.

Senator David Mark might be considered by some people as another man who was worth the title but he was more a mere Senatorial District Politician who helped no other person to elective position than himself and rode on party's supremacy as a ruling party to gain national publicity. Nothing is more or lesser than this about him despite becoming President of the Senate for about two consecutive tenures.

Senator Bukola Saraki only came to the political limelight riding on the political relevance of his father, the Late Chief Olusola Saraki in 2003. He wasn't part of the pro-democracy struggle that gave birth to the restoration of the constitutional order to the country in 1999 and lacks political goodwill to point to any politician he has helped to power who can fight it himself.

Muhammadu Buhari was never part of the struggle who fought for the restoration of democracy to Nigeria, although he has benefitted from the struggle. He lacked the political technicality to form a formidable alliance that could win him his ambition to become Nigerian President until he was approached in 2014. For so many reasons, Muhammadu Buhari is not a favorite for this title.

James Ibori is a great politician who made an impact as both a sitting and out-of-office Governor of Rivers State. He was able to influence election results even when he was in prison but the questions surrounding his political goodwill are crucial and dangerous for consideration. Besides, he has little to no influence on political activities happening out of his home state, Delta State.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is one of the foremost politicians in Nigeria who fought for the restoration of democracy to Nigeria, and he still maintains his political relevance today. He was a presidential aspirant and candidate for more than seven election years but failed to be successful. Although he was a former vice president of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007.

Who were the politicians made by Atiku Abubakar who could be considered capable of winning the political battle in his territory? Just mention them with no tangible objection, please. It is either very hard to come up with such a list or defend it when objected.

The fact is that Atiku Abubakar only works with younger politicians or relies on bigger politicians with the sole aim of accomplishing his political ambition, and this habit has denied him the opportunity to be crowned "Father of Modern Politics" in Nigeria.

Take a keen look at the political sagacity of the incumbent President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he could be considered the only one that the cap fits when it comes to choosing the "Father of Modern Politics" in Nigeria.

He was part of the struggle that fought for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria, and he had used his political goodwill, influence, and personal resources to create, support, ensure, defend, and sustain a community of politicians who were roughly picked from nowhere, and currently occupying topmost political positions across tiers of government in Nigeria.

Tinubu's political sons cut across the country, and his political sagacity has helped to defeat an incumbent President, for the first time since 1960, in Nigeria.

Tinubu's political capability to build a political network across Nigeria, Africa, and the World plus his goodwill of upbringing thriving politicians from across the Sox geopolitical zones in the country without attaching their success to his ambition distinguish him from the likes of political sages Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ladoke Akintola, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Bola Ige.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the "Father of Modern Politics" in the Federal Republic of Nigeria has helped the sons of "nobody" to become beneficiaries of the sons of somebody and vice versa. Tinubu's political ideology is worth a course in the higher institution of learning politics of this century.
