EFCC Speaks On Purported Relationship Between Its Investigation Of Achimugu and Atiku, Sanwoolu
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declares its investigation into Aisha Achimugu, the managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Felak Concept Group, has nothing to do with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos state.

The commission had earlier publicized Achimugu needed for purported criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

In a statement on Friday night, Dele Oyewale, spokesperson of the commission, declined rumours that the investigation is conjoined with Atiku and Sanwo-Olu.

“We wish to state in a positive degree that the investigations of Achimugu have no connection of any kind with the two political actors,” the statement reads.

“She is being looked into for suggested criminal conspiracy and money laundering and has since been declared required by the commission.

“The EFCC started investigation of Achimugu in 2022, and albeit she approached the court to obtain an injunction restraining the Commission from arresting, scrutinising, inviting, or detaining her for any suggested criminal act, the injunction was disputed and vacated on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, by a federal high court sitting in Abuja.

“The court governed that ‘…no court has the power to stop the investigative powers of the Police or EFCC or any agency established under our laws to look into crimes when there is reasonable suspicion of commission of a crime or ample evidence of commission of an offence by a suspect’.

“The court further supported the interim order of forfeiture of assets of Achimugu suspected to be proceeds of crime, turning down her suit against it as lacking merit.

“The foregoing clearly establishes that the EFCC’s case against her has no immediate or remote nexus with any politician or any veiled or open alliance to any political engagement or transaction.
