Mount Etna, located at the east coast of Sicily, Italy is one of the most active and prominent volcanic venues in the world, today. 

Currently, there is a heavy volcanic eruption taking place on the Mount Etna according to the Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) Etna Observatory. The Mount Etna's volcanic eruption produce mixture of ashes, pyroclastic flow (a type of rock) and gas, flowing down the mountain with heavy thickness.

Mount Etna stands approximately 3,329 meters (10,922 feet) above sea level, hosting stratovolcano considering the steep, conical shape and periodic explosive of the volcano.

INGV stated that the current Volcanic eruption taking place in Mount Etna seems to be coming from the 200m-wide vent location on the mountain.

The institute claimed further that the early Monday morning June 2nd volcanic eruption coming from Mount Etna was felt at the south east coast of the mountain as it caused  ground movements around the area.

Ultimately, Mount Etna's volcanic eruption usually come with little to no damage or injury because the eruption is common and proactive measures were in place.

Often, heavy volcanic eruption on Mount Etna forced the nearby airport, Cantania Airport, to divert flights due to ash cloud.

Volcanic eruption take place frequently on Mount Etna and the last before the present eruption took place in February, 2025.

Scientists revealed that volcanic eruption has been taking place on Mount Etna for the past 3,500 years dating back 1500BCE.

Mount Etna was designated UNESCO world heritage centre in 2013, hosting number of tourists and agricultural activities around its venue.
