As the political landscape of Osun State begins to stir ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, all eyes are on the key players within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Among the prominent figures whose moves are being closely watched is Senator Iyiola Omisore, a veteran politician with a rich history in the state's political arena. A series of recent events, from social media pronouncements to visible infrastructural developments, have fueled speculation that Omisore is not just an observer, but a potential contender for the party's ticket.

The most telling sign came from Omisore himself, who recently took to his Facebook page to declare a cryptic but powerful message: "We Are Coming!" This simple phrase, devoid of explicit context, has been interpreted by many political analysts and followers as a clear signal of his readiness to re-enter the gubernatorial race. It echoes a sentiment of ambition and a resolve to make his presence felt in the upcoming electoral cycle.

This social media pronouncement is further buttressed by a very tangible action on the ground: the recent renovation of his campaign office in the Ogo-Oluwa area of Osogbo. The bustling activity at the office, a hub of political strategy and mobilization, is a classic indication of a politician preparing for a major campaign. The fresh coat of paint and renewed energy surrounding the building are not just cosmetic changes; they are a symbolic declaration of intent and a signal to supporters that it is time to get ready.

Adding to this, there is the reported N35 million gift to the Osun State APC party executive. While such a gesture could be framed as an act of goodwill and party support, in the world of politics, it is often seen as a significant investment. This kind of financial commitment is a way of solidifying one's influence and building a strong support base within the party structure, which is crucial for securing a gubernatorial ticket. It suggests that Omisore is not only ready to campaign but also willing to back his ambition with substantial resources.

These developments must also be viewed in the context of recent discussions about the political future of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola. Speculation has been rife that Omisore would only consider contesting if Oyetola, a former governor and current Minister, decided not to run. A recent claim that Oyetola has declared no interest in the governorship ticket of the party has opened the door wide for other aspirants, and Omisore seems to be one of the first to step through it.

Omisore's political sagacity is well-established. He is not a newcomer to the gubernatorial race, having contested for the seat in 2014 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His experience as a former Deputy Governor, two-term Senator, and former National Secretary of the APC gives him a deep understanding of the political machinery and a wide network of contacts. This background makes him a formidable aspirant, one who knows the intricacies of a state-wide campaign and the art of political maneuvering.

Even if Omisore doesn't ultimately secure the APC's ticket, his candidacy will undoubtedly make him a major stakeholder in the party's decision-making process. As a key figure with a significant support base and financial muscle, he will be in a position to influence who eventually becomes the party's flagbearer. His influence, even as an aspirant, would be a critical factor that any potential candidate would have to consider. Omisore's readiness to join the fray is a signal to all that the race for the Osun 2026 governorship is officially on, and he intends to be a central figure in the unfolding drama.
