MAKURDI, BENUE STATE - Less than a week after dissolving his entire executive council, Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has forwarded the first batch of eight commissioner-nominees to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The move comes after Governor Alia, in a bid to "reposition the government for greater efficiency," relieved all his commissioners of their duties. The dissolution was announced after the 12th Benue State Executive Council meeting.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, in a statement confirmed the development, highlighting that the transmission of the names to the State Assembly is in line with constitutional provisions.

The first batch of nominees includes a diverse group of individuals, as listed below:

Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue, Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa, Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo, Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga, Hon. Denis Iyaighgba, Hon. James Dwem, and Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche.

According to the statement from the Governor's office, this development is a "significant step in enhancement of the machinery of governance and ensuring effective service delivery across various sectors." The Governor is said to be committed to a process of selection based on "transparency, competence, and inclusivity."

The statement further indicated that the second batch of nominees is expected to be forwarded to the House of Assembly in a matter of days. This phased approach suggests a strategic and careful consideration of appointments to ensure a balanced and effective cabinet.

The dissolution of the previous cabinet and the swift nomination of new members signals the governor's determination to build a team that aligns with his vision for the state's development. All eyes are now on the Benue State House of Assembly as they begin the process of screening and confirming the nominees.
