In recent times, many Nigerian academic institutions instituted on-campus rules and regulations, aiming to control the menace of moral decadence that comes alongside Western civilization and its realities. However, some academic institutions seem to have taken this too far as face caps, earpieces, and some items were declared prohibited for the students whenever they come on campus.
Among the schools that have enacted campus-based rules and regulations to restore morality and normalize their cultural egos is Rivers State University.
Rivers State University, formerly Rivers State University of Science and Technology, is a government-owned university located in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, Nigeria.
Amazingly, at Rivers State University, it is forbidden for students to put on their face caps, whether the sun is blazing or the rain is showering.
Among other popular rules and regulations on the Rivers State University campus are the prohibition of- using earphones, wearing crazy jeans, wearing short skirts or gowns by the ladies, wearing tops that show chest or stomach region, and wearing sprayed hair.
These rules are enforced right from the entrance gate of the school as many students were said to have had their mobile phones seized by the school authority for using earphones.
Unfortunately, none of these rules was passed or signified at the entrance of the school as a notice and punishment for violating any of these include denied entrance into the school premises, seizure of student items, and suspension from the school for some academic semesters.
