Aregbesola Rejects Plea for Adeleke's Second Term In Office, Weighs Options

Aregbesola Rejects Plea for Adeleke
Rauf Aregbesola
The former Governor of Osun State and immediate past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has rejected plea to work for the second term ambition of the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.

A reliable source revealed to The Round Table that Dr. Deji Adeleke, a billionaire business and elder brother to Governor Ademola Adeleke, recently met with Aregbesola to discuss how he would reiterate his support to his brother, Ademola, during the 2026 governorship election in Osun just as Aregbesola led a faction of All Progressives Congress (APC) to work against the party during the 2022 governorship election.

Our source stated that Aregbesola blankly revealed to Dr. Adeleke that he is not ready to work for the second term ambition of Ademola Adeleke even though Dr. Adeleke still hope of returning Aregbesola to the discussion table for final decision.

The Round Table understands that Aregbesola is currently weighing options of fully retuning the to the All Progressives Congress (APC) mainstream fold in the state but on conditions.

One of the conditions being considered by Aregbesola is that the former Governor of the state and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboye Oyetola, should not be presented as the governorship candidate of the party.

Besides, The Round Table learned that Aregbesola is ready for reconciliation with Oyetola and his erstwhile political benefactor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if some elders would facilitate the reconciliation and his factors will be mended with the structure of APC in Osun to wrestle power from Ademola Adeleke-led People's Democratic Party (PDP) administration in Osun.

Aregbesola was said to be unsatisfied with the ways Adeleke's administration has been destroying his legacies in the state even after it was clear to them that the major reason he worked against his party and Oyetola during 2022 election is Oyetola's decision to tamper with his legacies.

Also, our source revealed to us that Aregbesola is also considering joining force with other political forces in the state to uplift the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) and present a governorship election during the 2026 governorship election in the state.

Our source further stated that Aregbesola had allegiance with and won the loyalties of some leaders of leaders of APC in Osun State who would be ready to leave the party in a future mass defection.

One of the leaders of APC in Osogbo Local Government who would not prefer his name printed confirmed a series of meeting between Aregbesola and some leaders of APC in the state who are currently faking allegiance with Oyetola.

Our contact stated that at a last meeting held with Aregbesola, the leaders were told to stop taking pictures at any meeting Aregbesola so as to stop sending signal to other political forces in the state.

Another contact who has been working with Aregbesola for decades revealed to The Round Table that the Aregbesola's political cycle is fully back in the state and will not rest until they have their ways.

The contact stated that some of the aides of Aregbesola who were assisted by the former Minister 5o travel out of Nigeria are already returning to the country ahead of the 2026 election's struggle.

The Round Table could reliably confirmed a series of meeting between Aregbesola, political stakeholders in the state and some traditional leaders of the progressives party in Osun State including all the Local Government party Chairmen when Aregbesola was the governor of the state.

A source also confirmed to us that Aregbesola is currently building a gigantic office in Osogbo, the state capital where he is expected to administer his political movement ahead of the 2026 election. It was gathered that he was moving towards abandoning the Oranmiyan House because he felt the location was too porous.
