The former Rivers State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 023 Governorship election, Tonye Cole, has belittled the political membership of the immediate former Governor of the State, Nyesom. He said the inability of the people to state the political party to which Wike belongs is confusing the politics of Rivers State.
Tonye Cole who was a guest at the interview section of Arise TV News at 9 pm on Thursday, January 25th, and while responding to a question fielded by one of the anchors, stated that the political membership of Nyesom Wike is confusing because no one knows of he is a member of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) or the ruling APC.
One of the anchors of the program had asked if Tonye Cole would feel satisfied and would not see Wike as a threat if he joined APC, recalling that Wike is currently a serving Minister under the APC-led Federal Government even though he is a PDP member.
Tonye Cole stated that if Wike is a known member of PDP who is ready to collaborate with the APC in Rivers, he would be satisfied and if he wants to join APC, he will be welcomed but he is currently confusing political stakeholders in the state who find it difficult to determine the political party to which Wike belongs.
In the interaction, Tonye Cole declared that he has accepted the decision of the Supreme Court on the legal battle that followed the 2023 Governorship election in Rivers State. He stated that he will re-contest the Governorship seat of the state in 2027.
